From a very early age, Carole has had a passion for drawing and painting. As a child and teen, her favorite subjects to draw and paint were people and animals. This love of portraiture has continued into adulthood. While she loves to paint just about anything, including still lifes and landscapes, her passion is portraiture, whether it be people or animals. To capture the spirit and the mood of the subject and to create the forms, values and shapes that reflect a perfect likeness of the subject are the most challenging, interesting and gratifying accomplishments to her.
Carole Katz received her BA from Binghamton University, her BFA from Centenary College and has studied portraiture, fine art and computer art at the duCret School of Art in Plainfield, NJ and the Somerset County Technology Institute. She has also studied at the Art Students League of New York, the New York Academy of Art and The School of Visual Arts in NYC.
Some of the juried shows in which she has participated are the American Artists Professional League 75th Grand National at the Salmagundi Club, NY; the Ocean City Artists Guild 18th State Juried Exhibition, NJ; Crafts at Lincoln Center, NYC; and the Art Expo, NYC. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, the Allied Artists of America, the Edison Arts Society and the Somerset Art Association.
Carole presently works on traditional as well as digital portrait commissions, freelance graphic design projects, as well as her mixed media college mirror and frame business. Commissions available upon request.
